Adolescents are viewed as valuable resources to be developed in the concept of youth development, not as problems to be fixed. To provide youth with chances to develop their knowledge, interests, skills, and capacities.

The impact of Youth development programs on breaking the cycle of poverty includes:

Skill Building

Young individuals who develop their skills are better equipped to reinvent themselves throughout all phases of life, adjust to shifting circumstances, and spot possibilities for progress amidst disparities. These abilities may include digital skills (like computational thinking), high-level cognitive abilities (like critical thinking and problem-solving), abilities connected to executive function (like self-regulation), and socioeconomic abilities (such as self-esteem, adaptability, creativity, perseverance, and empathy).

Healthy relationships and bonding

According to a large body of literature and research, relationships are essential for adolescents' healthy development. Theorists and empirical research contend that youths going through a transitional developmental stage need the social and emotional support of their families, friends, schools, and communities. Bonding with parents and school was shown to be a protective factor in a study based on interviews with 10,000 US kids from different socioeconomic classes, which helped to mitigate the many developmental hazards that adolescents confront. Additionally, relationships with healthy adults are protective for teenagers and favorably associated with their psychological health.

Belonging and Membership

The idea of belonging has great significance for young people. Young people can establish healthy relationships with peers and adult role models when adult facilitators provide an environment where they feel both physically and emotionally safe. Their emotional health as well as their academic abilities will be impacted by how connected they feel to others. These connections may serve as the cornerstone for developing life skills, making sound decisions, and managing risks.

Youth Engagement and Contribution

Communities can create the resources, opportunities, and supports that young people need to develop in healthy ways more effectively by involving youth in the process. Through youth

development programs, community leaders may benefit from the knowledge and collaboration of young people and a better understanding of what it's like to grow up in a world that is changing quickly.

DTD ENTERPRISES has a plethora of resources available to help the youth break the cycle of poverty and contribute meaningfully to society.
