Recruitment Strategies Around D.E.I.A. Initiatives

Recruitment and staffing are two areas of concerns for small, medium and large businesses including non profits and for profits. A few strategies that need to be incorporated to increase recruitment and to increase longevity of morale and personnel include but not limited to a SWOT Analysis and a Needs Assessment. These tools are a necessity for every organizational type.

SWOT analysis is a strategic planning technique used to help a person or organization identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to business competition or project planning.

A needs assessment is a systematic process for determining and addressing needs, or "gaps" between current conditions and desired conditions or "wants". ... Needs assessments can help improve the quality of policy or program decisions—thus leading to improvements in performance and the accomplishment of desired results.

A SWOT Analysis is an instrument that can be used in any business type whereas a Needs Assessment is more typical used in a non profit. These tools can be utilized for leaders, experts, consultants, career professionals, and entrepreneurs.

These tools are recommended for implementation at least bi-annually or in the case of new staff, new programming, update in SOP, staff leaving, after evaluations, and the opportunities remains limitless.

While the conducting SWOT Analysis and Needs Assessment can appear overwhelming and tedious, once conducted, benefits include but not limited to:

  1. Improvement in business processes

  2. A well written or updated strategic plan

  3. Identification in gaps from leadership, organization and personnel

  4. Provides opportunities to increase morale and employee engagement

  5. Provides opportunities to improve development in area in marketing outcomes and initiatives,

  6. Better position the organization for partnership discussion,

  7. Increase grants and loan opportunities, and the list continues.

Don't be afraid to scale back once a quarter, bi-annually, annually or when needed to utilize tools to increase your business efficiently, your business bottom line and your business scalability efforts.

As leaders, entrepreneurs, experts, consultants and career professionals where you may start your businesses alone, it is destined to continue to journey alone.
